Charlie’s Chalk Dust Review

E-Cigarette Reviews | 1 comment

Launched in 2015, Charlie’s Chalk Dust has had quite a meteoric rise for an e-liquid company with a relatively short history. Charlie’s is also remarkable for the fact that the company offers a very large selection of flavors without ever losing the distinctiveness between one flavor and the next. I count at least 19 flavors in all — but you may have a little trouble finding all of them in one place.

Buying Charlie’s Chalk Dust E-Liquid

Charlie’s Chalk Dust is available primarily through wholesalers. That means you’ll need to find the e-liquid at your favorite local vape shop or online vendor. Charlie’s sells a lovely sampler box directly through their website — although even that doesn’t contain all of the company’s flavors. I’ve compiled a few recommended vendors here.

About Charlie’s Chalk Dust

To be completely honest, I don’t know a great deal about Charlie’s Chalk Dust except that the company was founded in 2015. I received one of the company’s flavors in a sample box from an “e-liquid of the month” company that’s no longer in business. At that time, Charlie’s was still brand new. Now, it seems as though they’re available almost everywhere — and with good reason. They actually do have flavor combinations that should please just about anyone. I enjoyed some more than others, but there isn’t a single flavor from Charlie’s that isn’t well executed.

The one little issue with Charlie’s Chalk Dust is that you may find it a little difficult to sample all of the company’s flavors if you’re a real fan. You can’t get all of them directly from the official website — you have to go through third-party vendors. Even the official Charlie’s website doesn’t list every product the company makes. I know of no vendor that carries all flavors in all sizes — and very few carry the Bake Sale, Campfire and Mr. Meringue flavors.

You didn’t know that Bake Sale, Campfire and Mr. Meringue were Charlie’s products? Neither did I, until I requested review samples from Charlie’s and received the flavors in my very large sample box.

Charlie’s Chalk Dust Review

Charlie’s Chalk Dust has so many labels that it’s a little difficult to succinctly summarize exactly what the company is about. I suppose it’s a side effect of the vape shop explosion. Since so many communities now have their own local vape shops, it’s natural that good distribution networks would pop up to supply those shops with fresh products. With distribution available, it’s natural that e-liquid companies would pop up with the goal of supplying those distributors rather than selling directly to the public.

The level of variety available naturally encourages people to try everything, so it’s possible that some e-liquid companies have a little trouble attracting long-term customers. How many flavors have you tried and loved — but never bought again? I suppose that’s why Charlie’s Chalk Dust has so many different labels. It helps to ensure that there’s always something new to try in the local vape shop.

One thing I can say about Charlie’s is that every flavor is extremely well executed. Some of the flavor combinations weren’t entirely to my liking. I wasn’t wild about the Campfire e-liquid, for example, but I rarely love e-liquids that use chocolate in their flavor profiles. Even so, I had to admit that the flavor was executed perfectly. I could actually identify the marshmallow flavor as smoky, toasted marshmallow — not just generalized sweetness.

Best Charlie’s Chalk Dust E-Liquids

Since I couldn’t possibly discuss every Charlie’s flavor in a single review, I’ll spend a bit of time talking about my favorites. The first of those is Peanut Butter & Jesus, a PB&J flavor that perfectly balances the flavors of peanut butter and grape jelly. A 10 ml bottle of this e-liquid wasn’t nearly enough — I could have gone through far, far more.

Dream Cream was also a real eye opener. Cream, custard and milk flavors are obviously all the rage right now. They’re absolutely everywhere. I love creamy e-liquids, too. Until I tried Dream Cream, though, I wouldn’t have said that any of them tasted like actual dairy cream. Dream Cream gets the cream flavor absolutely right. I highly recommend it.

Do you like the idea of citrus e-liquids more than you like the e-liquids themselves? That’s how I feel about just about every lemon or lime e-liquid. While citrus e-liquids are often interesting, I can rarely tolerate them for long because I can’t get past the furniture polish notes. Mr. Meringue has absolutely no furniture polish taste. It is the best citrus e-liquid I have ever tasted — and the creamy meringue and custard flavors come through beautifully.

Charlie’s Chalk Dust Review: The Bottom Line

In addition to the flavors that I mentioned above, I really enjoyed the Trueberry Sugar & KnifeDrama Swirl and Slamberry flavors from Charlie’s Chalk Dust. There weren’t any that I outright didn’t like, although I did notice that the Pacha Mama flavors were the last ones I used up. I’m simply not usually crazy about tropical e-liquid flavors because I have trouble picking up individual flavor notes aside from “sweet” and “fruity.”

All in all, Charlie’s Chalk Dust is a great e-liquid company that any e-cigarette user should try at least once. Charlie’s flavor profiles are entirely unique — with all of the e-liquids that I tried, I don’t think I could directly compare any of them to anything I’ve had from another company — and that’s rare. What’s even more rare is that every e-liquid from Charlie’s absolutely lives up to its description. If you read a description of a Charlie’s e-liquid and find it appealing, you should definitely pick it up. It’ll taste exactly as you expect.

I love the box that the sampler pack comes in! I’ve never tried this company, but I might have to now, great review. Those boxes would be perfect for the perfume samples I’m trying to start, do you happen to know where they get them? I might need to look into getting my own.
